Thoughts for the Day

Work has been hectic, but moving along nicely. Can't wait to be in San Fransisco going to college. Less than a year away.

Alright, so I know I am not as post happy as I probably should be, but meh. You get the point with what I post. I want to know what YOU want me to draw for the celebration of my 10,000th page view. Just post a reply. :)

Back and Safe

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 17, 2011, 11:46 PM
Thoughts for the Day

Finally able to get back up to the tattoo shop and start working again. Will be touch and go, but me and my family are safe. Please keep all of those affected by this disaster in your thoughts as we continue through this struggling time.

So after dealing with the earthquake, and the tsunami, the loss of power, and time to work, we in Misawa have finally gotten back on our own feet enough to help others. This journal entry should have been 3 days ago, but better late than never. Currently going to Hachinoe every day and helping the port authority clean up their buildings. It is the closest, and least that I am capable of doing, as our unit will not allow us to travel to the shattered coastline and help. Instead we will do what we can, as everyone has been effected by this tragedy.

Getting back into the swing of things here at the tattoo shop, and will try to post up some of the new work I have been sketching out, after I get some clean lines established. Thanks for sticking with me and keeping my family, and everyone in Japan in your thoughts. Until I can get a few new pieces posted, take care, and please help out in any ways that you can.

Chris

Contest Going On Currently

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 25, 2010, 5:24 PM
I am currently in 2nd place in Tattooed Life Radio's contest to win a hand built Kaco tattoo machine. If my faithful watchers would take a few seconds of their time and head over to [link] and vote for me, Christopher Nettle, that would be awesome. Thanks everyone.

Been absent a bit...

Journal Entry: Fri Dec 10, 2010, 7:55 PM
So I just went through everything and cleaned up shop a little bit. Fixed all my folders and made them a little bit easier to navigate, moved all my 2010 stuff that was worth posting up to a 2010 folder, and created a new line work and sketches folder and a new school tattoos folder for the 2 different things I have been posting. I have found I don't have too much time to do full color everything, and I have been able to pull the color shading for stuff out of my head more and more without a reference. So for now you will be getting my tattoos as they happen and any sketch that I think is of worth. Until my next round of posty stuff, take care DevArt.

Happy Birthday and such.

Journal Entry: Sat Nov 6, 2010, 1:01 AM
So it was my mom's birthday yesterday and I wasn't able to get ahold of her, so this is me wishing my mother a happy birthday if she sees this before she answers her phone.

For everyone who has been adding my newer stuff to their favorites in droves, thank you very much. Sorry I don't have a chance to thank everyone personally anymore. I recently changed schedules at my day job, so now I have much, much more time to tattoo, but it takes up a majority of my free time now.

Haven't been doing too many fully complete and shaded images lately. Starting to tattoo what I see in my head. It is saving alot of time, and I figure is the natural next step in progression. For some things I still use my shading references, but trying my best to just run with things and do it my way, and the newer high color stuff is the result. Please continue to watch as I continue to move forward, and thanks to those that have been here since the beginning.

Lack of posting....

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 22, 2010, 8:17 PM
Sorry for being a bit of a recluse lately. I have gotten alot of cool stuff started lately, but I don't like posting WIP's too much, so maybe when I can start getting to the end of these larger projects I will get some more new posted. Thanks for being patient with me. My normal job suddenly turned from a low key desk-ish job, so a total hectic mess all the time. I think I have lost all or part of 4 of 9 of my last days off. It is really started to wear on me.

Cleaning House

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 3, 2010, 9:14 PM
So back from vacation and into tattooing and drawing heavy again. Working on alot of new stuff, so expect at least something new from me each week. Possibly more depending on the schedule.

So as I am working on more and more projects trying to get published, I have gone through and moved alot of my older stuff to my scrapbook. I have left the older tattoos for the moment, but all the older "trash" artwork is now gone. I will always try to provide everyone with only the best I am capable of delivering at any given time. Thank you for understanding if suddenly something you have fav'd disappears. Just look for the newer better art. More to come on where to go to vote for my stuff if you like it.

Vacation!!!

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 19, 2010, 4:22 PM
Yay. The baby love, Trailer Darling will be here in 4 more days, and then we are getting married. In the meantime though, I am taking a little bit of a break since I haven't had a vacation in over a year. Only 17 days "off" only a week of which will be taken away from the tattoo shop, but I think it will help. Starting to get burned out, and it is never good when that happens. Anyway, I have a couple projects that I am hoping to finish up this weekend and show you all... including the 70 hour half sleeve of space that looks more like a watercolor then a tattoo.... And I am very proud of it so far. until then though, enjoy what I have up already. Or hate it, either or. Art inspires. Good or bad. Till next time.

So I had been putting up alot of linework and the like before, and I have decided I am done with that. From here on out, only finished flash pieces will be put up and tattoos if I feel they are complete enough for you to understand what is going on. I am trying to improve the quality of my work, and just posting tons of linework isn't gonna cut it for me. Thanks for understanding while I go through ths change hehe. Enjoy

So yesterday I just received commissions for tattoos for 2 full sleeves in color, and a full lower leg sock. This adds onto the 2 full sleeves I am getting ready to start once my new rotary machine from Germany gets here. So if all goes well, I will have at least $15000 in work before the year is out. It is good to be me.

Alright, I figured it was about time to update my journal a little bit, since it has been over a month. Currently working on updating my portfolio and getting ready to make my tattoo portfolio so I have a physical one. Also, I am taking commissions if anyone is interested in having me design something for them to use as a tattoo. Price will vary on the size of the piece and everything else, but let me know. Other than that, nothing much, about to go back down to Tokyo to talk to a helicopter pilot about a recommendation so I can hopefully go to school to learn how to fly helicopters as well as tattoo. We shall see if coming to Japan allows me to complete all the goals I have had since I can remember.

I must apologize... I have been feeling kind of bleh for the last week. Just getting over being sick and didn't really feel like posting up anything, let alone getting it drawn up to be posted haha. Kind of a bad attitude since I am perpetually behind on the drawings I need to do for tattoos let alone the stuff I want to draw for my flash...

On the bright side I have increased my overall score in Modern Warfare 2 and found a new weapon that I like hahaha. ANYway, this weekend is pretty packed with both the day of the dead girl as a tattoo, and finishing a Polynesian / Tribal half sleeve that should be kinda fun and rewarding. I also have a few small pieces on Sunday. I will post pictures of them all when they are done. Thanks again and have a good one.

So my real job has been incredibly taxing on me lately and I haven't had too much time to get up into the tattoo shop. When I finally think I might be able to sneak in few a few hours, I come down with some sickness that bed-racked me all day. Feeling a little better though. I have at least 3 appointments over the weekend, and hopefully any walk ins I can scoop up. At the very least I should be able to finish up Lawrence's lion, and making start getting my next cover-up piece drawn. We shall see.

So just got back from the site at Fuji. Had a pretty good week and got quite a few good shots. Please check my newest deviations in the folder entitled Desolation. They will all be stock images with no photo manipulation done to them. They will include pictures of Mt. Fuji, as well as a training site that appears to be just what the titles say, Desolated and run down. Feel free to use the images however you feel, just please give me credit for the original picture. Thank you very much.

So, my design process has slowed down a little bit since I have stopped booking for a little bit. I have to go back down to Fuji for some now tattoo related business for about a week. If anyone has anything that they are looking to get done and wants a separate view on things let me know, I would be happy to draw stuff up. Otherwise my flash set is going to continue to grow as I keep putting designs together to start working on a full book to try and get sold on tattooflashbooks.com Outside all that, enjoy, and I will be back in April.

Alright, sorry for the lapse in actually writing everything. After getting back from Tokyo it has been a little hectic to say the least. Problems at the shop with the Yakuza, trying to find an apprentice who can actually draw, and trying to come up with ways for me to stay in Japan which don't involve me getting married off to someone hahaha. Anyway, this should be a pretty good month for me for tattooing, all negatives aside. 2 full back pieces to do, and Ben and Yuki's half sleeves to finish. Not to mention getting a chest-half sleeve drawn up and tattoo'd and finishing up the skull and wings for Steve's (another artist at the shop) Death Before Dishonor piece. I will keep everything up to date as much as possible, and as always, enjoy. Take care.

So here it is, Monday morning at 5:32 and I have been unable to sleep all night. So it goes sometimes, I am just riding trains all day down to Tokyo anyway.

Ink Addiction Tattoo in Misawa Japan is finally open, and this a great relief. We went from, "ugh, did someone die in here", to the shop being cleaned, fixed, painted, floored, and everything else. Was only able to get 3 tattoos done this weekend, well, finished anyway. I have some more stuff I have to load up, but I am being lazy and need to pack still. So anyway, the shop is open for business, if we can only find out where Akko placed our outdoor signs.....

So, we are currently in the process of fixing up our shop, and we have had yet another name change haha, but have no fear, we finally made up our minds. Inked Addiction Tattoo. So, we have spent the last 3 days ripping up old flooring and painting the walls, ceiling tiles, refinishing furniture and shelving, and just basically getting the place ready to lay down the new floor. Looks a million time better then before now that is KINDA cleaner haha. Needs alot of trash taken out still, and our plumbing has to be finished before the 1st of Feb, or we are going to have a flood on our hands, but I think our apprentice got it done today.

Because of all that, I have been unable to really get anything posted up, but I did post a teaser up. The stencil that was used on my buddy Clay's chestpiece.. Goes armpit to armpit, just about. More to come as far as photos are concerned as soon as I can pick up a USB cable that fits my camera, or a card reader. Whatever I find first.

In other news, the local softball team just commissioned me to design their T shirt, so I actually got a chance to work on that for a little bit tonight. Just a little more to go and the rough sketch will be done. When finished I will make sure to post it.

Also, from the 8th of Feb. till the 17th I will be down in Tokyo and unable to post anything new, but I plan on catching up with alot of my overdue drawings, so be ready for an influx when I get back. I think that just about covers the last few days, so Deviantland, have fun, get drunk, cause I know a bar that has a bottom of Maker's Mark with my name on it.

So I know I have been a little lax on getting new work posted up. Was a super busy, tattoo packed 4 days. I will get some of the linework posted up once I get done with work today and have a chance to really sit down and update. Also got a chance to really sit back and throw a few drinks back with the shop (or get incredibly hammered hahaha) Anyway, more work on my left hand, both kneecaps, and my right thigh outline were the tattoos done to myself over the 4 days, and 2 new tattoos on clients. There were also 3 repeat clients that we continued working on their ongoing projects..... Well, I have to get back to work, just wanted to stop by and drop off the latest info from the world of Hori Kurisu.

In other business though, we have found a new location for the tattoo shop and will changing the name due to the owner not liking Lucky Cat haha.... The new name of the tattoo shop will be Monsters Ink, but this will remain my tattoo related page, so no worries about finding me again. I am done, have fun Deviants...
